Oneironaut Song (Live @ The Rob Roy 13/06/2003)

about

This was a slight "homage" to fellow Melbourne band Oneironaut (who James ended up joining on Bass in 2004), and a slight in-joke. We were often asked at gigs the name of this track and we thought it'd be ridiculous to say "oh we call it 'Oneironaut Song'," so we'd just say it was untitled. Yet this is what we called it.

There's a couple of versions floating about of varying quality. One straight from the desk (that was later mixed by Nao Anzai) at the show we dubbed the "black show" in 2005 at the Rob Roy with School of Emotional Engineering, Laura, and Greenland (Syd). But David ruined that with his Bass-chugging ;)

I've instead opted to upload this version from the 2003 Rob Roy gig that was Solaris's EP launch which was recorded from the back of the room onto Bart's minidisc recorder, placed on the mixing desk by Mr Jeremy Smith (our regular sound man for the first few years). It was relatively new then and a little less honed (well it was never really honed... that was its beauty), but I think overall it's a bit more energetic. Plus you don't have David's Bass blurring through the PA as much over-riding everything else in the mix.
